The Soulogy Method
The principle
Much of human response happens before there is time to think. The body and mind can react to what feels familiar, shaped by earlier experience, even when the present situation is different.
This does not mean someone lacks insight or effort. A familiar response can persist even when the pattern is understood.
Understanding a pattern is the beginning. The Soulogy Method works with these automatic responses to help a different response become available in the moment, not only in hindsight.
Who it is for
You are used to being capable. That has not changed.
What has changed is how much it takes to feel at ease.
You still make decisions, meet commitments, and take an interest.
But it no longer feels as spacious or natural. You find yourself wanting to be left alone, then missing the feeling of wanting to join in.
You may have spent time understanding yourself. You can recognise a familiar reaction and explain where it comes from. What frustrates you is feeling caught in it nonetheless.
You may hesitate to call it a problem. There is no single thing you can point to—only a growing awareness that managing well and feeling well have become two different things.
The Approach

The Soulogy Method works with automatic stress responses and long-standing patterns that can be difficult to shift through conscious effort alone.
Clinical hypnotherapy is at the centre of the work, with the DeTrauma Technique™, NLP, Resource Therapy, parts work and somatic methods drawn on where appropriate. The approach is personalised rather than fixed, so that familiar responses can become less automatic and more flexible.
The work is carefully paced and contained. There is time to find your footing. Each step is agreed, and nothing needs to be performed or proven. The aim is not only to help you manage a familiar response, but to support change in the response itself.
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy uses focused attention, guided imagery, language and awareness of sensation to explore habitual responses experientially—not only through conversation. This helps loosen familiar patterns and make room for a different response.
Each session is guided by what you want to change, exploring the feelings and responses connected to it.
Hypnotherapy does not replace medical, psychological or psychiatric care where that care is needed.
DeTrauma Technique™
The DeTrauma Technique™ is a trauma-focused technique. During a traumatic experience, protective responses switch on automatically. When the trauma is not fully processed, those responses can stay active, shaping reactions long after the event, often before there is time to understand why.
The technique combines hypnotherapeutic processes with guided eye movements for desensitisation—an element also used in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). DeTrauma is a distinct technique and is not EMDR therapy.
It works directly with what remains of the trauma: the emotional and bodily reactions, the images, and the meanings attached to it. The experience does not need to be retold in detail.
As desensitisation reduces the intensity of these reactions, the memory can be held as something that happened then, rather than something that is still happening. The work addresses the response itself, not only how to manage it.
Used within Then and Now, one-to-one, once steadiness is in place. Zina is a certified DeTrauma Technique™ practitioner.
The Programs
Each program begins at a different point: a response you cannot seem to shift, an experience that still follows you, or a part of life that no longer feels possible in the same way.
Room to Recover
Room to Recover combines clinical hypnotherapy with somatic practice to recognise how pressure builds, explore what makes unwinding difficult and work towards a more reliable return to rest. The focus is recovery within everyday life, not another routine to perform perfectly.
The shape of the work
-
Settling: recognising early signs of tension, with a short practice using breath, attention and awareness of the surroundings.
-
Working with pressure: exploring how you respond to manageable demands, and using hypnosis to rehearse the move towards rest.
-
A recovery rhythm: bringing useful practices into the week and preparing for periods when demands increase.
Room to Recover doesn’t involve processing traumatic memories. If past experiences need attention, Then and Now may be the better starting point, or elements of it can be included. Persistent or changing physical symptoms should be checked by a doctor.
Then and Now
Then and Now is trauma-focused work, paced individually. It begins with the present: what helps you feel settled, what you would like help with, and whether this approach suits you. Clinical trauma hypnotherapy, including the DeTrauma Technique™, is used to approach earlier experiences only when you are ready, and any work with distressing memories is agreed together.
The shape of the work
-
Preparation: understanding what brings you here, agreeing the focus, and building ways to stay steady within and between sessions.
-
Focused work: where appropriate, approaching the experiences or responses you want help with, at a pace reviewed together.
-
Integration and review: connecting the work with everyday situations, considering what has changed and agreeing what comes next.
Progress is reviewed together as the work goes. Some people need more time, and further sessions or a referral may be recommended. Then and Now is not a crisis service; anyone at immediate risk should contact emergency services.
Outside the Script
Outside the Script uses clinical hypnotherapy and mental rehearsal to explore those expectations and practise alternatives. Reliability, composure and independence stay available as strengths, without feeling compulsory.
The shape of the work
-
Map: the situations where you hold back, overprepare or defer, and what you expect would happen if you responded differently.
-
Rehearse: using hypnosis to explore and practise different responses to the situations that matter to you.
-
Test and review: small, agreed steps in everyday life, then an honest review of what happened, including what didn’t go to plan.
Outside the Script doesn’t involve processing traumatic memories. If earlier experiences need focused attention, Then and Now may be the better place to begin.
